AC Versus Heat Pump: Which Is Better for Your Florida Home?

An advantage of heat pumps is that they offer both heating and cooling for your Florida home. This is a nice option as you just have one HVAC system you have to maintain. This is why many homeowners and businesses opt for heat pumps over air conditioning units.

Heat pumps don’t work very well for weather below 30 degrees. That being said, most of the Jacksonville, Florida, area stays above that for the winter. However, cold spells can hit, and then your heat pump might not be up for the job at that point.

When comparing the cost of installation of a heating and cooling system, you should consider the cost of both. The cost of a separate AC unit and then a heating unit, such as a furnace, will be greater than the cost of a heat pump by itself that does both jobs simultaneously.
